Wednesday nights at Limbach Park have set the tempo of a Monument summer for years. Free show, food trucks, camp chairs on the grass, home before dark. What has changed, quietly, is what happens the other six nights of the week from early August through late September. The town is running a compressed run of national tours, a tenth-anniversary festival, and a rebranded beverage fest, and the downtown food scene has finally matured enough to catch the spillover instead of losing it to Colorado Springs.
If you have lived here a while, that last part is the interesting one.
The August Run at Ford Amphitheater
The amphitheater sits at 13071 Bass Pro Drive, close enough that most Monument residents treat it as their venue. In a normal year you would circle two or three shows. This August, the calendar barely breathes.

Six headliners inside thirty days, with three of them on consecutive weekends. If you have driven Baptist Road at 10:15 p.m. on a show night, you already know what this means for traffic patterns on the I-25 exits. If you are hosting family in from out of town during this window, it is genuinely useful to plan dinner reservations north of Monument Hill rather than south of it. The wait times downtown on a non-show Tuesday are not the wait times on an Alison Krauss Friday.
Monu-Palooza X Lands on Labor Day Weekend
The hometown festival hits its tenth edition on Sunday, September 6, at Limbach Park. Gates open at 9:30 a.m., the music runs from about noon until 8 p.m., and founder Charlie Searle has leaned into the fact that it falls on Labor Day Eve, meaning most attendees do not have a work or school morning to worry about.
The lineup has become a running conversation among people who follow local music. Ashtonz have anchored the festival most years and play something like fifty shows annually with a book of more than 650 covers and originals. WireWood Station, the award-winning string group whose fiddler Michelle Edwards has become something of a Tri-Lakes signature, has headlined recent editions. Skin & Bones and Mojo Filter round out the regional rotation. The Front Street fair component that got added a couple of years back has stuck, and it changes the character of the day from a park concert into something closer to a downtown street festival.
For a ten-year-old festival to still feel local is unusual. Most events at this age either professionalize into something a resident no longer recognizes, or fade. Monu-Palooza has done neither, and that is worth showing up for on principle.
Pours in the Park, Now Under a New Name
The libation festival that most locals still call Bines and Brews is officially Monument Pours in the Park in 2026. It runs Saturday, September 19, from noon to 4 p.m. at Limbach Park, hosted by the Tri-Lakes Chamber. The rebrand widens the tent beyond beer: local distilleries, wineries, cider makers, and non-alcoholic beverage producers are now equal citizens of the tasting glass. Live jazz, food for sale from downtown vendors, and yard games fill in the afternoon.
The practical shift for a resident is this. The old Bines and Brews felt like a beer festival with some side offerings. The new format reads more like a survey of what small Front Range producers are actually making right now, mocktails and cider included. If you have a designated driver in the group, or a friend who does not drink, that person now has a reason to hold a glass of their own.
Tickets are transferable if you notify the Chamber before September 19, which matters if you buy early and then a show conflicts.
Where Locals Actually Eat Around a Show
The gap between a 6:30 p.m. amphitheater doors call and getting seated at a downtown restaurant is where a lot of otherwise good evenings fall apart. A short pairing, based on who is actually open, where, and for what.
Before a show, sit-down and quick:
- The Bistro on 2nd for a proper meal. Elk and bison entrees, shrimp with Calabrian peppers, polenta frites. Small dining room, so a reservation matters more here than anywhere else on this list.
- Back East Bar and Grill if you want a Colorado burger, waffle fries, and a beer without ceremony. Saturday music bingo turns the room into a scene if you time it right.
- Arlene's Beans at 366 Second Street, Unit D, for family Mexican with margaritas. Tuesday through Saturday, 11 to 8, which lines up with almost every show but a Sunday.
Before a show, grab-and-go:
- Black Forest Foods for a deli sandwich or salad on the covered patio.
- MyHouse Cafe at 582 CO-105 for pickup ordered ahead by phone or online.
- Papa Bear Pizza if you want to eat a Pot Roast and Potato pie on Alaskan starter dough in your car and have zero regrets about it.
Morning after a show:
- 1979 Coffee Monument for the balcony seat looking out at the mountains, low prices, and a one-person crew that will move at a one-person-crew pace.
- Arlene's Beans again for a breakfast burrito, served until 2 p.m.
None of these are secrets. What is new is that you can string a night together entirely inside downtown Monument and not feel like you settled. Two years ago that sentence was harder to write.
The Wednesday Backbone That Makes It All Work
None of the above replaces Concerts in the Park, the free Wednesday series at Limbach Park from June through July, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The reason it matters to this stretch of the calendar is subtle. Concerts in the Park has been the training ground for a lot of the acts you will see at Monu-Palooza. Vinyl Nation, WireWood Station, and Mojo Filter have all cycled through the free series in recent seasons before landing on the paid festival stage. That is the through-line of a Monument summer that a new arrival misses. The Wednesday shows are not filler. They are the farm system.

- Fri Aug 14 — Alison Krauss and Union Station. The show most likely to sell out first among the August six.
- Sat Aug 22 — Danny Elfman's Music from the Films of Tim Burton. The only night of the run that is genuinely unlike anything else on the schedule.
- Sat Sep 5 — Brantley Gilbert closes the amphitheater's headliner month.
- Sun Sep 6 — Monu-Palooza X at Limbach Park. Labor Day Eve. Gates 9:30 a.m.
- Sat Sep 19 — Monument Pours in the Park, noon to 4 p.m., Limbach Park.
Six dates, six weeks, all inside the town limits or a short drive to the amphitheater. That is more concentrated cultural programming than Monument has ever run in a single stretch, and it is being absorbed by a downtown that has, at last, enough restaurants and coffee shops to hold the crowd.
